Dynamics of a family of Chebyshev-Halley type methods
In this paper, the dynamics of the Chebyshev-Halley family is studied on quadratic polynomials. A singular set, that we call cat set, appears in the parameter space associated to the family. This cat set has interesting similarities with the Mandelbrot set. The parameters space has allowed us to find different elements of the family such that can not converge to any root of the polynomial, sinc...
متن کاملTHIRD-ORDER AND FOURTH-ORDER ITERATIVE METHODS FREE FROM SECOND DERIVATIVE FOR FINDING MULTIPLE ROOTS OF NONLINEAR EQUATIONS
In this paper, we present two new families of third-order and fourth-order methods for finding multiple roots of nonlinear equations. Each of them requires one evaluation of the function and two of its first derivative per iteration. Several numerical examples are given to illustrate the performance of the presented methods.
متن کاملBulbs of Period Two in the Family of Chebyshev-Halley Iterative Methods on Quadratic Polynomials
and Applied Analysis 3 Figure 1: Parameter plane. Let us stress that the head and the body are surrounded by bulbs, of different sizes, that yield to the appearance of attractive cycles of different periods. In this paper, we focus on the study of all bulbs involving attractive cycles of period 2. As we see in the following sections, these attractive 2-cycles also appear in the small black figu...

متن کاملPeriod-doubling bifurcations in the family of Chebyshev-Halley-type methods
The choice of a member of a parametric family of iterative methods is not always easy. The family of Chebyshev-Halley schemes is a good example of it. The analysis of bifurcation points of this family allows us to define a real interval in which there exist several problematic behaviors: attracting points that become doubled, other ones that become periodic orbits,... These are aspects to be av...
